The Study Lab · Free online revision

Free GCSE & IGCSE Maths
revision and exam practice.

Build confidence with Maths questions by topic, an adaptive starting-level assessment or timed MCQ practice. Choose your course, tier and paper so the questions match what you study.

Build a method you can explain.

Write down your working before choosing an option. After marking, compare your reasoning with the explanation and redo any missed question without looking at the solution.

The tool offers topic assessments, timed practice and an untimed adaptive starting-level assessment. Your report separates unanswered questions from topics you have not studied and includes feedback to guide your next revision session.

This is diagnostic practice, not a predicted exam grade. Available questions depend on your course and paper.

What can you revise?

Number
Fractions, powers, percentages, rounding and units.
Algebra
Expressions, equations, sequences, functions and graphs.
Ratio & proportion
Scale quantities, compare rates and connect ratios to fractions.
Geometry & measures
Angles, coordinates, transformations, area and volume.
Probability & statistics
Outcomes, averages, spread and interpreting data.
Further & Additional Maths
Course-dependent topics including functions, trigonometry and calculus.

Original practice examples

Try it. Then check your reasoning.

Work through these questions first. Open each explanation when you are ready to check.

Algebra

Solve 3x + 4 = 19.

Show answer and worked explanation

x = 5

  1. Subtract 4 from both sides: 3x = 15.
  2. Divide both sides by 3: x = 5.
  3. Check by substitution: 3 × 5 + 4 = 19.

Revision tip: Apply each operation to both sides of the equation.

Probability

A bag contains 4 red counters and 6 blue counters. One counter is selected at random. What is the probability that it is red?

Show answer and worked explanation

2/5

  1. There are 4 + 6 = 10 counters in total.
  2. The probability of red is 4/10.
  3. Simplify the fraction: 4/10 = 2/5.

Revision tip: Use the total number of equally likely outcomes as the denominator.

Geometry

A right-angled triangle has perpendicular sides of 6 cm and 8 cm. Find the hypotenuse.

Show answer and worked explanation

10 cm

  1. Use Pythagoras: c² = 6² + 8².
  2. Calculate c² = 36 + 64 = 100.
  3. Take the positive square root: c = 10 cm.

Revision tip: The hypotenuse is opposite the right angle and is the longest side.

A revision routine you can repeat.

  1. Choose one topic and attempt a short set without notes. Record the method you used, including units.
  2. Sort mistakes into calculation errors, missing knowledge and misunderstood questions. Revise the specific method behind each one.
  3. Return to the topic after a gap, then use a mixed or timed set to practise choosing methods independently.

Choose the right course before you start.

Which Maths courses can I choose?

The tool includes AQA GCSE Mathematics (8300), AQA Level 2 Further Mathematics (8365), Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580), Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics (0606), Pearson Edexcel GCSE Mathematics (1MA1) and International GCSE Further Pure Mathematics (4PM1).

Can I choose Foundation, Higher, Core or Extended?

AQA and Edexcel GCSE Mathematics offer Foundation and Higher. Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics offers Core and Extended. Further and Additional courses are untiered. Available topics depend on the selected course and paper.

Can I use a calculator?

The setup identifies calculator and non-calculator papers. Follow the calculator policy shown for your selection. These are adapted multiple-choice practice questions, rather than a complete official exam paper.
